Beaches by Bike

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL CAR-FREE DAY IN LA.

My ideal day combines four of my favorite things: friends, beaches, bikes and ice cream. I would take at least four of my friends, who I regularly ride with, for an oceanside adventure. We would start at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market to pick up some fresh picnic foods for our trip and to enjoy live music.
We would then bike to Venice Beach for excellent people watching. We hope people will watch us, too. Since this is a Good project, we would wear T-shirts that say “Have a nice day,” because we really want people to.
We’d stop at Dockweiler Beach for a picnic lunch and a refreshing swim. Then it’s on to the aquarium at Manhattan Beach to learn about the fish we swam with.
We’ll pedal a little farther to Hermosa Beach, and we’ll treat ourselves to ice cream to power our return journey up the coast.
